Job Summary
The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, ensuring all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas are clean, organized, and ready for daily operations. The role supports the kitchen team by following food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, cutlery, kitchen utensils, and cooking equipment.
- Keep the kitchen, dishwashing area, and storage areas clean and organized.
- Dispose of waste and garbage according to company procedures.
- Ensure all cleaning chemicals are used safely and stored properly.
- Assist in receiving and storing kitchen supplies when required.
- Support the kitchen team with basic cleaning and operational tasks.
- Follow health, safety, and food hygiene standards at all times.
- Report any damaged equipment or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
- Ensure sufficient clean utensils and equipment are available during service.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor or Head Chef.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Steward or Kitchen Helper is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food safety practices.
- Physically fit and able to stand for long hours and lift moderate weights.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
