Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Steel Supervisor to join our Technical Services team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the identification, sourcing, and management of steel and aluminum materials required for our projects. This includes ensuring the accurate determination of material quantities, quality standards, and timely delivery in alignment with project specifications and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Identification and Analysis:
Review project plans and specifications to determine steel and aluminum requirements (quality, quantity, dimensions).
Assess and recommend the types of steel and aluminum materials suitable for each project based on project requirements and budget.
Quantity andQuality Control:
Accurately calculate and track the quantities of steel and aluminum required for ongoing and upcoming projects.
Ensure materials meet the required quality standards and specifications.
Oversee the inspection and testing of steel and aluminum for compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
Procurement and Sourcing:
Collaborate with procurement teams to source the necessary steel and aluminum materials from approved suppliers.
Negotiate pricing and lead times with vendors to meet project timelines and budget constraints.
Ensure that materials are delivered on schedule and in the required quantities.
Inventory Management:
Monitor stock levels of steel and aluminum to ensure that inventory is adequate for project needs.
Maintain anup-to-dateinventory of materials, adjusting as necessary to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
Collaboration with Project Teams:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other technical teams to align material needs with project schedules.
Provide technical support regarding the use of steel and aluminum materials on-site.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of material specifications, quantities, and delivery schedules.
Prepare regular reports on steel and aluminum usage, costs, and inventory for management and project stakeholders.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure that all materials are handled and stored according to safety regulations and industry standards.
Support the team in adhering to health and safety guidelines on-site.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Materials Science, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience in steel and aluminum procurement and management.
Experience:
At least 3-5 years of experience in steel/aluminum material procurement, sourcing, and management, ideally within construction or industrial sectors.
Strong understanding of material specifications, quality standards, and industry best practices.
Skills:
Excellentcommunicationand negotiation skills.
Strong analytical andproblem-solvingabilities.
Proficiency ininventory managementsoftware and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations in handling construction materials.
Certifications (optional):
Relevant certifications in materials management or procurement are a plus.
Working Conditions:
This role may require occasional site visits to assess material usage, deliveries, and quality inspections.
Work is primarily office-based but may involve time on-site depending on project needs.
