Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and technically capable Steel Building Site Engineer to supervise and coordinate the installation and erection of steel structures at project sites. The successful candidate will ensure that all site activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate steel structure erection and installation activities at project sites.
- Review structural drawings, fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and project specifications.
- Coordinate with project managers, structural engineers, fabricators, subcontractors, and site workers.
- Monitor steel erection, alignment, bolting, welding, decking, cladding, roofing, and related activities.
- Ensure all steel members are installed according to approved drawings and required tolerances.
- Conduct regular site inspections and identify construction issues or deviations.
- Coordinate with the fabrication team regarding material delivery, fabrication issues, and site requirements.
- Check materials and steel components delivered to site for quantity, specifications, and visible damage.
- Prepare daily site progress reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Monitor manpower, equipment, tools, and material requirements at the site.
- Ensure compliance with approved method statements, inspection and test plans, and quality procedures.
- Coordinate inspections with consultants and clients when required.
- Assist in resolving technical and construction-related problems at site.
- Monitor project progress against the approved schedule and report delays or potential issues.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure work is performed according to company standards.
- Prepare measurements, quantity reports, snag lists, and completion documentation as required.
- Support project handover and rectification of outstanding site works.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of site experience in steel structures, pre-engineered buildings (PEB), structural steel, or steel construction.
- Good knowledge of steel erection, structural connections, bolting, welding, roofing, and cladding works.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of surveying, leveling, alignment, and basic site measurement procedures.
- Familiarity with construction quality and safety requirements.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage site activities and work effectively under project deadlines.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office is preferred.
- Knowledge of PEB/structural steel construction is an advantage.
- Ability to work at construction sites and coordinate with multicultural teams.
