Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Specialist Research & Development based in Al Kharj. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing garment patterns, evaluating product feasibility, improving garment construction, and supporting new product development from concept through production. The role focuses on pattern engineering, sample development, product analysis, and manufacturing optimization to ensure products meet quality, performance, and production efficiency requirements.

The Research & Development Specialist will work closely with design, production, industrial engineering, and quality teams to develop production-ready garments, optimize manufacturing processes, and support continuous product improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop basic and production-ready patterns for a wide range of garments, including jackets, trousers, shirts, coveralls, and other apparel.
  • Utilize pattern-making software to develop, modify, and optimize digital patterns and garment samples (preferred).
  • Create garment patterns from physical samples or design sketches while ensuring accurate interpretation of construction requirements and sewing operations.
  • Analyze garment samples and modify patterns to resolve fitting, construction, and performance issues.
  • Conduct product engineering studies, including defining sewing operation sequences, calculating standard minute values (SMV), estimating production targets, and determining manpower requirements for production lines.
  • Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to validate product manufacturability and improve production efficiency.
  • Support sample development, product testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to product development and manufacturing processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Technology, Clothing & Textiles, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in apparel research and development, pattern engineering, or garment product development.
  • Strong expertise in garment pattern making, garment construction, and apparel manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with digital pattern-making software is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
