Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervise & monitor fire inspection patrols & the use of fire inspection checklists.
- Conducting periodic audits of the Site to ensure the highest standards (Best International Practice) of fire safety is maintained.
- Advise line management on any legal or Company standards affecting Fire Safety and liaise with Civil Defense representatives during fire inspections or with regard to fire prevention measures.
- Identify hazards likely to produce an accident or fire loss, compile necessary reports and advise line management regarding preventative measures.
Success Indicators:
- Nil fire occurrence/issue.
- Elimination of fire risk.
- Elimination of risk to employees.
- Up-to-date training /individual Training Plan completion.
Activities:
- Advise on required fire warning and firefighting equipment for all areas of the Sunbulah business.
- Ensure the fire detection, alarm, suppression, water & hydrant system and firefighting equipment are maintained and in the state of readiness /availability through the development of a fire inspection system.
- Ensure that fire inspectors conduct regular training programs, and fire drills as detailed by fire safety officer to maintain a state of readiness for fire situations.
- Report on all safety inspections recommending corrective actions for non-conformance.
- Maintain firefighting appliances to ensure their suitability for use.
- Lead a dedicated firefighting team composed of employees who have been trained as auxiliary firemen.
- Take part in regular training programs on safety and fire drills to maintain a state of readiness for fire situations.
- Assess possible causes of injury and other circumstances as a result of the accident, compile necessary reports and inform line management of future prevention.
- Develop and implement hazardous chemical storage and handling procedures and ensure of compliance with safety standards.
- Undertake the training of managers in the delivery of basic fire prevention training program to staff as the need arises.
- Raise awareness and promote good fire and chemical safety practices.
- Deal with fire and chemical issues in a prompt and effective manner.
Essential:
- Possess a Fire Protection Association Diploma or other recognized qualification.
