Anexcitingopportunity has arisen for 10 experienced SORT operatives to apply to join the assessment process, to potentially qualify as an ad-hoc Specialist Operations Response Team (SORT) facilitator. We are aiming to have one person per OU in this role.

The SORT facilitators will be responsible for the delivery of specialist training programs, under the direction of the SORT instructors to meet the organisational and national needs. The postholders will provide the ongoing delivery of relevant specialistadvanced training, to ensure staff maintain their level of competence and fitness to be able to respond to high threat incidents in line with national contract standards.

The role includes teaching and accurate associated administration. As well as this, the post holder will be the essential link in the OU to the SORT training manager and SORT operations manager for associated SORT tasks (e.g., vehicle status, ISV, CBRN, MTA).

Main duties of the job

You must currently be a full-time trained SORT operative / HART and have a minimum of 2 yearsconcurrent / equivalentSORT training as of01 st December 2023, or relevant, recent, CBRN experience (e.g., military / other emergency service).

You should be a self-motivated,innovativeand flexible individual with excellentcommunicationand organisational skills.Attention to detailand ability to manage complex information are vital, along with the ability to work under conflicting and often changing pressures and objectives. Working as part of a team is essential to the role.

All elements of the SORT facilitator recruitment and assessment process are to be completed successfully before being recognised as an ad-hoc SORT facilitator.

Abstractions cannot be guaranteed above your mandated 7 days per annum SORT training; therefore, potential ad-hoc facilitators would cover these on overtime. There is an expectation to complete a minimum of 4 teaching days every 6 months, but must be mindful of the working time directive, their home/work life balance, and being rested.
