Job Summary:
A Home Care Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients in their homes, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. The role requires expertise in handling patients with PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) and Ryles Tube (Rice Tube) for feeding, along with providing holistic care, medication management, and emotional support to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities: Patient Care & Support:
Provide nursing care to patients at home, focusing on their specific medical needs.
Administer enteral feeding through PEG and Ryles Tube, ensuring proper hygiene and tube maintenance.
Monitor and prevent complications related to tube feeding, such as infections or blockages.
Assist with patient mobility, hygiene, and comfort to improve their quality of life.
Medical Assistance:
Administer prescribed medications and monitor for side effects.
Perform wound care, dressing changes, and infection control as required.
Monitor vital signs and report any changes in the patient’s condition to supervisor or family members.
Educate caregivers and family members on proper patient care techniques.
Documentation & Communication:
Maintain accurate medical records, including feeding schedules and medication administration.
Communicate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Adhere to infection control and hygiene protocols.
Ensure proper handling and disposal of medical waste.
Follow all healthcare regulations and ethical standards.
Requirements:
Education: Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (GNM/B.Sc Nursing)
Experience:
Proven experience in home nursing care
Hands-on experience with PEG and Ryles Tube feeding
Knowledge of enteral feeding complications and management
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Compassionate and patient-centred approach
Ability to handle emergencies and work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in handling geriatric or bedridden patients
Certification in Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Basic Life Support (BLS)
Familiarity with other home healthcare equipment (e.g., suction machines, nebulizers)
