Job Title: SOC Level 1 Analyst
Department: Cybersecurity Operations & Threat Management
Reports To: SOC Section Manager
Job Summary
The SOC Level 1 Analyst is responsible for monitoring security events, performing initial alert triage, documenting incidents, and escalating confirmed threats to higher-level analysts. This role serves as the first line of defense within the Security Operations Center (SOC) and ensures continuous monitoring of the organization’s security environment.
Experience
- 0–2 years of experience in Cybersecurity, IT Support, or Network Administration.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts using SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and firewall solutions.
- Perform initial triage and validate security events.
- Log, classify, and track incidents in ServiceNow, Jira, or similar ticketing systems.
- Escalate confirmed incidents to SOC Level 2 Analysts.
- Follow SOC procedures, playbooks, and incident response runbooks.
- Assist with vulnerability management and compliance activities.
- Review reported phishing emails and perform basic email analysis.
- Execute basic containment actions following approved procedures.
- Maintain accurate shift handover documentation.
- Perform health checks on SOC monitoring tools.
- Stay informed of emerging cyber threats and security best practices.
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, OSI Model, routing, and switching.
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Understanding of phishing, malware, brute-force, and web application attacks.
- Basic knowledge of SIEM and EDR platforms.
- Experience with ticketing systems and security monitoring tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
