Job Description

Site Engineer (Landscape / Irrigation)

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Site Engineer (Landscape / Irrigation) to join our team! In this role, you will focus on the site supervision, coordination, and quality control of landscape and irrigation works on infrastructure, urban development, public realm, and commercial projects. You will help ensure that all landscape and irrigation systems are constructed, tested, and handed over in accordance with project specifications, sustainability requirements, and local regulations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supervising landscape and irrigation works on site, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
  • Monitoring installation of irrigation networks, control systems, pumps, valves, sprinklers, and drip irrigation systems.
  • Overseeing landscape construction activities, including planting, hardscape, softscape, and water features, to ensure quality and adherence to design intent.
  • Reviewing and commenting on shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements related to landscape and irrigation works.
  • Assisting in the review and verification of irrigation layouts, hydraulic calculations, and water demand requirements from a site implementation perspective.
  • Coordinating landscape and irrigation activities with civil, architectural, MEP, drainage, and utility disciplines to avoid conflicts and ensure integrated construction.
  • Conducting regular site inspections and quality audits to verify compliance with project standards, sustainability objectives, and HSE requirements.
  • Checking plant species installed on site against approved plant lists and assessing suitability for local climate and environmental conditions.
  • Monitoring water management and irrigation system performance, and supporting implementation of efficient and sustainable irrigation practices.
  • Reviewing contractor progress on site, identifying deficiencies, and recommending or supervising corrective actions.
  • Preparing site inspection reports, daily records, snag lists, and other project documentation.
  • Supporting testing, commissioning, and handover of irrigation and landscape systems, including participation in site-based performance tests.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements on site.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10 years of overall experience in landscape and irrigation works, with at least 5 years in a similar site-based role.
  • Experience on large-scale infrastructure, urban development, highways, parks, and public realm projects.
  • Proven experience in construction supervision and site coordination of landscape and irrigation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, landscape plans, and irrigation layouts.
  • Good technical understanding of:
    • Irrigation system components and installation practices
    • Landscape construction (planting, hardscape, softscape)
    • Water conservation and sustainable irrigation practices
  • Knowledge of relevant international and local construction standards.
  • Must be MME certified.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with Civil 3D and GIS is an advantage.
  • Professional certification in irrigation or landscape management is an advantage.
  • Experience in the Middle East / Gulf region, especially in arid-climate landscape projects.
  • Knowledge of Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) or similar regional standards.
  • Experience with public parks, streetscapes, highways, stadium precincts, and urban landscape developments.
  • Familiarity with smart irrigation systems and sustainable water management technologies.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with contractors and multidisciplinary site teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with high attention to detail and quality management.
  • Ability to manage multiple site activities and priorities and meet project deadlines.
