About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Signage Asset Engineer (Roads O&M) to join our team in Doha, Qatar. In this role, you will be responsible for the asset management, lifecycle performance, maintenance, rehabilitation, and compliance of highway traffic signage assets across the road network, ensuring safety, serviceability, visibility, and cost-effective operations.

The role covers regulatory, warning, directional, guide, and informational traffic signs, including ground-mounted signs, cantilever and gantry-mounted large guide signs, overhead structures, and associated support systems. The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of traffic sign standards, retroreflective materials, fabrication practices, inspection methodologies, and maintenance strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage highway signage assets, including regulatory, warning, guide, directional, and informational signs; ground-mounted signs; overhead cantilever and gantry-mounted signs; and associated support structures and foundations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and contractual requirements, including MUTCD, ASTM standards, local authority requirements, and relevant international best practices for traffic signs and retroreflective materials.
  • Develop and maintain accurate asset inventories and asset registers within the Asset Management System, including sign type, dimensions, materials, support structures, age, condition, retro reflectivity performance, and maintenance history.
  • Establish condition assessment methodologies, inspection criteria, and performance indicators for traffic signs and support structures.
  • Conduct and oversee inspections of traffic signs and structures, including structural condition, visibility, legibility, retro reflectivity, chromaticity, damage assessment, corrosion, deformation, and foundation integrity.
  • Analyze inspection and condition data to assess asset performance, deterioration trends, failure risks, and lifecycle requirements.
  • Develop and implement preventative and corrective maintenance strategies for signage assets to optimize safety, performance, compliance, and whole-life cost.
  • Develop rehabilitation and replacement programs for aging or non-compliant signs and support structures based on condition, retro reflectivity performance, safety risk, asset criticality, and lifecycle cost analysis.
  • Monitor and assess retroreflective sheeting performance and compliance with minimum retro reflectivity requirements and chromaticity standards.
  • Review and evaluate sign fabrication practices, materials, installation methods, and workmanship to ensure compliance with approved standards and specifications.
  • Coordinate maintenance and rehabilitation activities for damaged, faded, corroded, misaligned, or structurally deficient signs and overhead sign structures.
