Position Overview:
Responsible for leading the welding section by receiving work orders or job tickets from the supervisor for daily execution. Handles the requisition of welding equipment and accessories required for projects. Provides technical support to the Welding Engineer or Supervisor for special welding process, strategy and planning.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise welding section activities – distribute welding work to respective leadman of welding crew from production engineer within the required time duration and budget resources.
- Monitor, keep records and submit report of actual man-hour consumed by crew member per day on regular basis.
- Monitor if welding work process are being executed in correct and safe manner in accordance with approved WPS and company quality standard.
- Prepare equipment and material requisition for each welding station to ensure continuous operation, reduce downtime and maximize production output.
- Prepare skill improvement program and list of candidates to be trained and improve skill matrix that will enhance worker capability and increase production capacity.
- Observe and comply QC Inspection Plan and ensure full compliance to specification
- Provide performance evaluation report for welders and submit to welding supervisor or head.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Diploma in Welding or Mechanical Engineering
- 10–12 years of relevant experience
Technical Expertise:
- Knowledge of various welding techniques like; GTAW, SMAW, SAW, and MIG.
- Hands-on experience in manual, semi-automatic, and automatic welding
- Familiarity with conventional NDT methods such as DFT, dimensional inspection, and visual inspection
- Proven experience in fabrication and welding of vessels, piping, structures, and heat exchangers
