Job Purpose

The Senior Water Sports Instructor is a site-based leadership role responsible for delivering and overseeing the highest standard of water sports instruction and guest experience across the designated asset.

This role combines advanced instructional delivery with on-ground leadership, ensuring all water sports activities are conducted safely, professionally, and in line with luxury hospitality standards. The Senior Water Sports Instructor also mentors junior instructors, supports operational planning, and contributes to the continuous improvement of programs and guest experiences within a premium marine tourism environment.

Key Responsibilities 1. General Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of water sports activities and instructional programs to the highest safety and quality standards.
  • Act as the senior on-water authority during activities, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Mentor, coach, and support Water Sports Instructors and junior team members.
  • Ensure all guest experiences are delivered in a professional, engaging, and memorable manner.
  • Support the Water Sports / Operations Manager in daily operational planning and execution.
  • Maintain a strong presence in the field, leading by example in guest interaction, safety, and professionalism.

2. Pre-Opening Support

  • Assist in the setup, testing, and commissioning of water sports facilities and equipment.
  • Support the development of operational procedures, safety standards, and training materials.
  • Contribute to staff onboarding and training during the pre-opening phase.
  • Support cross-functional teams to ensure readiness of all activity zones and equipment.

3. Operational Responsibilities (Post-Opening)

  • Lead and supervise daily water sports activities, ensuring smooth execution and guest satisfaction.
  • Deliver advanced instruction across multiple water sports disciplines (e.g., kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, towable activities, and others as required).
  • Conduct detailed guest briefings, safety demonstrations, and activity supervision.

    Monitor environmental conditions and make real-time operational decisions to ensure safety.

  • Oversee equipment readiness, inspections, and maintenance coordination.
  • Support scheduling and allocation of instructors and guest groups.
  • Act as escalation point for operational issues, guest concerns, and safety matters.
  • Ensure all activities align with company SOPs, safety standards, and luxury service expectations.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching and mentoring to junior instructors.
  • Support performance improvement and skill development within the team.
  • Ensure consistency in training delivery, guest engagement, and safety standards.
  • Contribute to building a strong, professional, and safety-driven team culture.
  • Ensure safety remains the highest priority across all water sports activities.
  • Enforce compliance with all safety protocols, emergency procedures, and risk assessments.
