Our client, a leading insurer is looking to bolster their underwriting function by hiring an experienced treaty underwriter. This role would report directly into the divisional director while also reporting administratively into the CUO. This ideal candidate needs strong broker and client relationships and would require experience of handling insurance portfolios in the international market, specifically within Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the underwriting, placement and renewal of treaty arrangements across designated territories
- Manage a broad portfolio across Property, Casualty, Motor, Engineering and Energy lines
- Shape and execute portfolio strategy
- Lead strategic negotiations on pricing, terms, and structure with cedants and brokers
- Provide guidance, coaching and technical support to junior underwriters
Key Requirements:
- 10+ years of treaty underwriting experience
- Experience with international treaty portfolios in Europe
- Strong technical understanding of treaty structures, pricing, loss analysis and wordings
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance or related field
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
