Senior Structural Engineer (Construction Supervision)

Location: Dubai / Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (Site-Based)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer on major live developments across the UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing structural works on complex high-rise projects, ensuring construction activities comply with approved designs, project specifications, international standards, and local authority regulations.

Reporting directly to the Resident Engineer
, you will provide technical leadership for all structural engineering activities, coordinate with contractors and consultants, and ensure the successful delivery of structural works throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise all structural construction activities on active project sites.

  • Monitor and inspect structural works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.

  • Provide technical guidance and engineering support to contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.

  • Review structural shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, RFIs, and technical documentation.

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, MEP engineers, façade consultants, and contractors.

  • Monitor construction progress and identify potential structural risks, proposing practical engineering solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with local authority regulations, international engineering codes, and health & safety standards.

  • Attend technical meetings, progress meetings, inspections, and site coordination meetings.

  • Prepare technical reports, inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and site observations.

  • Verify completed structural works prior to approval and handover.

  • Support the Resident Engineer in resolving structural issues arising during construction.

  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control procedures are followed throughout all structural works.

  • Review contractor methodologies and ensure structural activities are executed according to approved construction methods.

Technical Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate significant experience in post-contract construction supervision consultancy and structural engineering
, including expertise in:

  • Enabling Works

    • Ground Improvement

    • Piling Systems

    • Shoring Systems

  • Post-Tension Structures

    • Design Review

    • Material Selection

    • Site Installation & Application

  • Façade Structural Systems

    • Precast Concrete

    • Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC)

    • Glass Façade Systems

    • Aluminium Façade Systems

  • Structural Design

    • Minimum 2 years of structural design experience on G+12 buildings or higher

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.

  • Professional Engineering registration or equivalent is preferred.

  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng or equivalent) is highly desirable or candidates should be actively working toward chartership.

Required Experience

  • Extensive experience in post-contract construction supervision consultancy
    .

  • Proven experience supervising structural works on live construction projects
    .

  • Strong experience with high‑rise building developments
    .

  • Previous experience working on major projects within the GCC is highly preferred.

  • Comparable international project experience will also be considered.

  • Demonstrated experience managing contractors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and construction methodologies.

  • Excellent knowledge of:

    • International Building Codes

    • Structural Design Standards

    • Local Statutory Authority Requirements

    • UAE Construction Regulations

  • Ability to review and interpret structural calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.

  • Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

  • High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Location Requirements

  • Candidates must currently be based in the United Arab Emirates
    , or

  • Be willing to relocate to Dubai or Abu Dhabi
    .

  • This is a full-time, site-based position
