Senior Safety Engineer Jobs in Doha, Qatar at Fusion Outsourcing and Services
Ensure engineering deliverables include robust Safety Engineering definitions and a fit-for-purpose design, aligned with project specifications and capable of being procured, fabricated, installed, and operated safely.
Ensure assigned tasks are managed per the project execution plan and contractual requirements, including:
Thorough, efficient, and timely review of Safety discipline documents.
Assessment and handling of potential deviations from standards.
Participation in Safety-related project studies and reviews at appropriate design maturity levels.
Identification of risks or scope changes and providing detailed impact assessments to the Engineering Coordinator.
ACTIVITIES
Ensure Safety design meets project standards, specifications, and execution schedule.
Review Safety-related studies such as:
Safety Critical Elements identification and performance standards
Gas Dispersion and Radiation analysis
Promote cost-effective, technically sound field optimizations.
Identify Safety engineering decisions, establish a resolution path, and report to the Engineering Coordinator.
Coordinate cross-discipline topics on safety layout, constructability, and operations.
Ensure lessons learned from past projects are incorporated.
Plan and facilitate Safety discipline kick-off meetings with EPC contractors.
Procurement, Fabrication & Construction Support
Support procurement through Technical Bid Evaluations and vendor documentation review.
Conduct vendor site visits when necessary.
Support construction and fabrication engineering efforts, including:
Modification and non-conformity management
Punch list resolution
Participate during offshore installation and hookup stages, including work-pack review and red-marked drawings.
Design & Document Control
Review and comment on project documents related to the Safety discipline in line with project specs and standards.
Evaluate documents such as:
Safety concepts
Hazardous area classifications
Process P&IDs
ESD logic diagrams
Fire and Gas cause & effect diagrams
Promote early-stage design improvements and value engineering.
Support standardization of WHP design proposals.
Identify and prepare deviation / derogation packages for approval through relevant channels.
Review final project documentation including as-built drawings.
Support study definition and follow-up in collaboration with the Engineering Coordinator.
Participate in project studies such as:
HAZID / HAZOP / SIL
Constructability Reviews
Project Reviews (PR)
Provide input to project audit sessions and represent the Safety discipline in regular and ad hoc engineering meetings.
Prepare and contribute to progress reports detailing Safety discipline progress, risks, and technical issues.
Identify potential Safety-related scope changes and assess initial impacts.
Track and manage changes in alignment with the project’s Change Management Plan.
Ensure design compliance with the approved Scope of Requirements (SOR), Basis of Design, and project standards.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education: Engineering degree in Process or Safety Engineering (preferably Loss Prevention).
Experience: Minimum 12 years in Safety Engineering within the offshore Oil & Gas industry.
Strong knowledge of international standards, safety legislation, and codes.
Direct offshore project experience required.
Experience in multi-disciplinary project teams.
Skills:
Leadership and strong communication abilities.
Excellent analytical and coordination skills.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Ability to operate effectively in a complex, multicultural project environment.
