Senior Rail Engineer Jobs in Doha, Qatar at Atkins Middle East
Atkins has been awarded a three-year contract by the Qatar Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning to support delivery of its multi-billion dollar transport and infrastructure programs, which underpin Qatar’s 2030 vision for world-class infrastructure development. Under the contract, we will establish a Central Planning Office (CPO) to co-ordinate current and planned road, rail, metro and other major transport and infrastructure projects, including elements associated with the FIFA 2022 World Cup.
As a result, we are looking for an experienced Senior Rail Engineer to work as part of the CPO Rail Team. Reporting to the CPO Head of Rail, the Senior Rail Engineer will provide technical advice and direction to the team on metro/rail issues, whilst reviewing proposals developed by others and preparing/presenting alternative options tosenior management.
Responsibilities
Your role
as Senior Rail Engineer will be as follows:
Providing advice and recommendations on metro and rail related technical issues
Liaise with government agencies, consultants and contractors to support delivery of new-build metro, light rapid transit, heavy rail and freight networks
Management and preparation of studies, reports and presentations
Presentations to very senior officials from Government
Contribute to major interface resolution, through the identification, development and assessment of alternative options
Understand and implement Atkins MEQuality Assuranceprocedures
Provide knowledge transfer to other suitable Atkins staff
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of experience in the design and delivery of metros/railways
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent formal vocational training in railway engineering
Essential Criteria
Strong focus on rail civil infrastructure
Understanding of rail planning
Good general understanding of rail systems
Understanding of Operations & Maintenance of railways
Good general understanding of Systems Assurance/Systems Engineering methodologies
Effective communicationskills in report writing, presentations and meetings
Desirable Criteria
Previous international working experience
Senior involvement in a range of different metro/rail projects
Experience of freight and long-distance railways
