Are you an experienced Quantity Surveying professional with a strong background in post-award commercial management of building construction projects?

We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civil & Building Works to lead quantity surveying activities across architectural, civil/structural, and finishing work packages. This is a key role responsible for ensuring accurate measurement, valuation, cost control, budgeting, and commercial reporting throughout project execution.

Reporting directly to the Commercial, Contracts & Claims Manager, the successful candidate will lead a team of QS professionals and collaborate closely with Engineering, Estimation, Cost Control, Planning, Procurement, and Construction teams to drive commercial excellence across major projects.

Key ResponsibilitiesMeasurement & Valuation

• Prepare and maintain detailed quantity take-offs from IFC drawings and specifications.

• Conduct site measurements and joint surveys with consultants and subcontractors.

• Support interim valuations and quantity reconciliations against approved budgets.

• Ensure measurement and valuation accuracy through close coordination with Project Controls and Cost Control teams.

Commercial Records & Substantiation

• Maintain complete, accurate, and auditable measurement and valuation records.

• Compile measurement sheets and supporting documentation.

• Monitor scope changes, RFIs, instructions, and quantity-related impacts.

• Provide quantity substantiation to support contractual and commercial positions.

Subcontract & Procurement Support

• Verify quantities for subcontract awards and material procurement packages.

• Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams to ensure alignment with approved designs.

• Monitor material consumption, quantity growth, and utilization trends.

• Identify quantity variances and recommend corrective actions.

Cost & Budget Management

• Support project budgeting, forecasting, and cost-to-complete reporting.

• Prepare quantity and cost analyses for management reporting.

• Assist in package budget development and cost monitoring activities.

• Contribute to value engineering initiatives through cost benchmarking and analysis.

Design & Engineering Coordination

• Review drawings and specifications for constructability, measurability, and cost implications.

• Reconcile tender BOQs with IFC documentation and identify discrepancies.

• Evaluate commercial impacts resulting from design changes, RFIs, and material substitutions.

• Provide cost advice during design development stages.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop Quantity Surveyors and QS support staff.

• Allocate resources across project priorities and packages.

• Ensure compliance with company procedures and QS standards.

• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management initiatives.

Qualifications & ExperienceEducation

✔ Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience

✔ 8-12 years of Quantity Surveying experience within building construction projects.

✔ Proven post-award experience covering architectural, civil/structural, and finishing work packages.

✔ Strong expertise in measurement, interim valuations, subcontractor certification, and commercial reporting.

✔ Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

✔ Working knowledge of FIDIC and other standard forms of contract.

✔ GCC experience preferred; Qatar market experience is highly desirable.

Technical Competencies

✔ Quantity take-off and measurement expertise.

✔ BOQ preparation and standard methods of measurement.

✔ Cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

✔ Subcontract administration and final account management.

✔ Contract administration and commercial management principles.

✔ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

✔ Experience with QS, estimating, take-off, and ERP systems.
