Job Summary:
Senior Procurement Engineer (MEP – Mechanical) is responsible for managing and executing the procurement process for Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical items (MEP) projects, with a primary focus on mechanical systems. This role involves sourcing, negotiating, purchasing, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials and equipment while maintaining quality standards and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers and vendors for MEP materials and equipment
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing, quality assurance, and timely delivery
Procurement Planning
- Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to develop procurement plans based on project requirements and specifications
- Analyze drawings and BOQs to determine material specifications and quantities
Cost Negotiation & Budget Control
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost-effective procurement
- Monitor and control procurement costs in line with approved project budgets
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all procured materials and equipment meet required quality standards and project specifications
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams to conduct inspections and ensure compliance
Logistics & Delivery Management
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams for timely delivery of materials and equipment to project sites
- Track and manage delivery schedules to align with project timelines
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier agreements
- Prepare and submit procurement reports to management as required
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal procurement requirements
- Identify, assess, and mitigate procurement-related risks
Communication & Collaboration
- Work closely with project management, engineering, and finance teams to align procurement activities with project goals
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure smooth operations
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, or related field).
- Proven experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably in the MEP industry.
- Strong knowledge of MEP materials, equipment, and suppliers.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in procurement.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
