Job Purpose:
To perform review and analysis of credit facility proposals ensuring that all credit risks are identified, measured to agreed standards and highlighted. To assess the quality of the assets and ensure its compliance with the Bank’s policies and audit requirements. The incumbent should help in the development and maintenance of Risk Reports.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Operational Responsibilities
- Contact the Relationship Managers or others having direct customer interface to obtain needed information/ documentation required to review and analyze credit proposals.
- 2Study the Credit Proposals submitted by the business unit to ensure their compliance with the regulatory authority and the bank policies.
- Prepare the Credit Risk recommendations highlighting the Risks and proposing mitigations. The credit risk memorandum should clearly detail the Credit Risk Unit opinion in the following: a) financial indicators including financial statement analysis; b) client competitive position; c) collateral coverage ratios; c) capability of clients to repay.
- Ensure the complete set of documentation pertaining to approved loan applications is sent to Loan Operations who is responsible for the safe custody of all loan related documentation.
- Prepare a sanction letter to provide the Business unite and the loan operations unit with the details of credit approval for implementation.
- Prepare periodic and ad hoc statistics pertaining to declined and approved cases and the ratio thereof, of instances of missing documentation over a certain period, etc. in order to keep record of all information that will then be further submitted to the Credit Risk Manager for review.
- Ensure that changes in policies and procedures arising from changes in products, regulations or systems are considered during the analysis and administration of credit facility proposals in order to maintain up-to-date policies and procedures within EDB.
