Position
– Senior estimation engineer
– Civil Department
– Estimation Purpose
– Prepare project costs for various civil projects to prepare competitive and profitable bids.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, and equipment
- Prepare techno commercial proposals and submitting them to clients or project stakeholders
- Review and analyze the scope of work, along with all related drawings
- Monitor project costs and adjust estimates as necessary
- Provide cost advice throughout the project lifecycle
- Participate in project meetings to offer insights and recommendations on cost-related matters
- Maintain and update a database of cost information for various construction materials and labour rates
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes and regulations
- Evaluate subcontractors bids and negotiating contracts
- Conduct site visits to gather data and assess project feasibility
- Collaborate with project managers, project engineers and site engineers
- Analyze project requirements to identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities
- Utilize specialized software for estimating purposes
- Coordinate closely with the Planning Engineer to prepare a high-level timeline schedule along with the technical and commercial proposal
- Share the prepared BOQ with the Quantity Surveyor for distribution across the relevant departments
- Upon project award, notify all departments to initiate the preparation of the required project documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Strong experience in identifying required materials, along with a good understanding of their approximate market prices
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and specifications
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of construction industry practices and standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong understanding of construction methods and materials
- Proven track record of successful project cost estimation
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
- Experience in preparing bids for large-scale civil engineering projects
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Flexible to visit project sites frequently during the tendering stage to ensure that the estimated costs are accurate and aligned with project requirements
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Expertise in interpreting architectural, structural, and IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings, shop drawings
- Key Competencies Strong understanding of construction methods, material specifications, and standard codes
