Job Description:
Parsons is seeking a talented Senior Environmental Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will lead and develop the Environmental Sustainability goals for the Program, support all Departments, and collaborate with certification and accreditation bodies. Your objective will be to establish environmental and sustainability parameters and deliver outcomes by managing linked initiatives.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Lead and develop interdepartmental project-wide sustainability and environmental goals, objectives, initiatives, and strategies to achieve the City’s vision as a Smart and Sustainable City.
Implement and monitor sustainability initiatives considering best practices, cost-effectiveness, and technical feasibility.
Chair or coordinate environmental workshops and committees, such as the smart sustainable city committee.
Promote high standards of environmental performance within multidisciplinary engineering projects, influencing project development to deliver optimal outcomes aligned with the Client’s Master Plan.
Support environmental sustainability programs and address challenges through technical and administrative means.
Project and track sustainability indicators such as energy use, natural resource consumption, waste generation, and recycling.
Research and review global and regional regulatory, technical, and market issues related to environmental and sustainability practices.
Advise on, develop, and review environmental and sustainability proposals or policies.
Present best practices and initiatives to senior management and develop reports to communicate their effectiveness.
Identify resources and partners needed to implement environmental and sustainability initiatives.
Participate in marketing efforts, such as brochures or websites, to communicate environmental issues, procedures, or objectives.
Develop grant applications or project proposals to secure funding for initiatives.
Identify, modify, or create new environmental and sustainability indicators suitable for JCPDI.
Coordinate and deliver environmental initiatives undertaken by Departments in Technical Affairs.
Engage with stakeholders and regulators to obtain statutory approvals for project components.
Deliver comprehensive environmental and sustainability assessments with clear, well-written reports.
Support the Department Manager in team management, technical support, and coverage during absence.
Undertake work to high standards and review others’ work, managing client needs confidently and professionally.
Required Skills:
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, preferably with projects in the Middle East region.
Master’s degree in Environmental Planning or a related discipline (preferred).
Bachelor’s degree in an Environmental field from a recognized Western university.

Effective oral and written communication skills.
Experience leading and coordinating technical teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, Adobe Professional, environmental databases, and office automation tools.
