Senior DevOps Engineer Jobs in Dubai, United Arab Emirates at 10ix

Title: Senior DevOps Engineer

Company: 10ix

Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Location: Onsite, Business Bay, Dubai

Employment Type: Full-time

Experience: 5+ years

About the Role

We are looking for a highly capable, hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer to take ownership of our infrastructure, deployment environments, servers, security, monitoring, backups, and operational reliability.

This is not a role for someone who only manages CI/CD pipelines or provisions cloud resources.

We are looking for a true DevOps engineer who understands infrastructure from the ground up and can take responsibility for the full lifecycle of our technical environments — from architecture and server provisioning to security, deployments, monitoring, disaster recovery, and ongoing maintenance.

You will work across development, testing, staging, and production environments and will be responsible for ensuring that our systems are secure, reliable, scalable, recoverable, and operationally efficient.

What You Will DoInfrastructure & Server Management

  • Design, provision, configure, and maintain servers and infrastructure.
  • Manage both cloud and dedicated / physical server environments.
  • Evaluate infrastructure requirements and recommend appropriate server and hosting solutions.
  • Provision new servers and environments when required.
  • Configure operating systems, networking, storage, firewalls, access controls, and services.
  • Maintain production infrastructure and ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Manage infrastructure used for large volumes of data and media.
  • Plan infrastructure capacity as systems and workloads grow.
  • Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation and configuration standards.

Environments

Own and maintain multiple environments, including:

  • Development
  • Testing / QA
  • Staging
  • Production

Ensure environments are properly isolated, secure, reproducible, and consistent.

You will establish reliable processes for moving applications between environments and ensure developers have the infrastructure they need without compromising production security.

CI/CD & Deployment

  • Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate application builds, testing, deployment, and rollback processes.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration wherever possible.
  • Implement safe deployment strategies.
  • Reduce manual operational work through automation.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to improve deployment workflows.
  • Ensure deployments are observable and recoverable.

Security

Security is a major part of this role.

You will be responsible for:

  • Server hardening.
  • SSH and secure remote access.
  • Identity and access management.
  • Role-based access control.
  • Secrets and credential management.
  • Firewall and network security.
  • Secure developer access to infrastructure.
  • Production access controls.
  • Monitoring for suspicious activity.
  • Security patching and vulnerability management.
  • Secure data transfer and storage.
  • Infrastructure security best practices.

You should understand the principle of least-privilege access and know how to give people the access they need without exposing the entire infrastructure.

Backups & Disaster Recovery

You will own our backup and recovery strategy.

This includes:

  • Designing automated backup systems.
  • Backing up databases, application data, files, and critical infrastructure.
  • Maintaining appropriate backup retention policies.
  • Ensuring backups are stored securely and separately from production.
  • Monitoring backup jobs and failures.
  • Regularly testing that backups can actually be restored.
  • Developing disaster recovery procedures.
  • Defining recovery objectives and improving our ability to recover from infrastructure failures.

A backup that has never been tested is not a reliable backup.

Monitoring & Reliability

  • Implement infrastructure and application monitoring.
  • Monitor CPU, memory, storage, networking, application health, and system performance.
  • Set up meaningful alerts and notifications.
  • Identify infrastructure problems before they affect users.
  • Investigate production incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain logs and centralized observability.
  • Establish appropriate uptime and reliability standards.
  • Continuously improve system resilience.

Infrastructure Automation

We strongly believe infrastructure should be automated wherever practical.

You should have strong experience with:

  • Infrastructure as Code
  • Configuration management
  • Automated server provisioning
  • Automated deployments
  • Automated backups
  • Automated monitoring
  • Environment provisioning

Experience with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, or equivalent technologies is highly desirable.

Cloud & Networking

Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and networking is expected.

Experience with platforms such as:

  • AWS
  • Azure
  • Google Cloud
  • DigitalOcean
  • Cloudflare

is valuable.

You should understand:

  • VPCs / private networks
  • Subnets
  • DNS
  • Load balancing
  • Firewalls
  • Reverse proxies
  • SSL/TLS
  • VPNs
  • SSH
  • CDN
  • Object storage
  • Block storage
  • Network security
  • Server-to-server communication

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is smart, technically strong, practical, and highly responsible.

You should be the person who can receive a requirement such as:

“We need a new production server in another region, secure access for the team, automated backups, monitoring, and a reliable deployment process.”

…and know how to take that requirement from architecture → provisioning → security → deployment → monitoring → backup → maintenance.

You should:

  • Think proactively rather than waiting for infrastructure problems to occur.
  • Be comfortable working independently.
  • Have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understand systems deeply rather than simply following documentation.
  • Be comfortable working directly with Linux servers.
  • Have excellent security awareness.
  • Automate repetitive work.
  • Document infrastructure properly.
  • Be comfortable dealing with incidents under pressure.
  • Understand that production infrastructure requires discipline and accountability.
  • Be able to explain technical infrastructure decisions clearly to engineers and management.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of professional DevOps / Infrastructure / SRE experience.
  • Strong Linux administration experience.
  • Strong experience managing production servers.
  • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong CI/CD experience.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
  • Strong networking fundamentals.
  • Strong security and access-management knowledge.
  • Experience designing and maintaining backup and disaster-recovery systems.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Strong scripting / automation skills.
  • Experience troubleshooting production infrastructure.
  • Strong Git experience.

Highly Desirable

  • AWS infrastructure experience.
  • Terraform.
  • Ansible.
  • Kubernetes.
  • Docker.
  • GitHub Actions / GitLab CI / Jenkins or equivalent.
  • Nginx.
  • PostgreSQL / MySQL infrastructure.
  • Redis.
  • Cloudflare.
  • Object storage such as S3.
  • CDN architecture.
  • Infrastructure security.
  • Performance and capacity planning.
  • High-volume data or media infrastructure.
  • Multi-region infrastructure.
  • Dedicated server management.
  • Disaster recovery planning.

What Success Looks Like

You will be successful when:

  • Infrastructure is stable, secure, and well documented.
  • Developers can reliably work in development and test environments.
  • Deployments are automated and predictable.
  • Production access is controlled and auditable.
  • Servers are properly monitored and maintained.
  • Backups run automatically and are regularly tested.
  • Infrastructure failures can be detected and recovered from quickly.
  • New servers and environments can be provisioned efficiently.
  • Security vulnerabilities are addressed proactively.
  • Infrastructure scales as the business grows.
  • The engineering team does not need to worry about whether the infrastructure is going to work.

The Person We Want

We are not looking for someone who simply knows how to use AWS.

We are looking for an engineer who understands systems.

Someone who can look at an infrastructure problem, understand the underlying architecture, identify the risks, design the right solution, implement it, automate it, secure it, monitor it, and maintain it.

If you are a hands-on DevOps engineer who enjoys building reliable infrastructure and taking complete ownership of it, we’d like to hear from you.
