The Senior Design Manager will report to the Turner & Townsend Project Director internally and the client representative at a project level and will be based in Riyadh, KSA. He / she will act as the key day to day client interface, ensuring that client objectives are met from a design management perspective.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring preparation of specifications and commenting on same.
Chairing and preparation of Design and Design Coordination Meetings including preparation and distribution of minutes and Design Action Register whilst ensuring Design Team respond to meet programme requirements.
Managing the design team withrespectto Safety in Design and timely preparation of Design Risk Assessments.
Working with the designers and supervision consultant to agree the standards required withrespectto mock-ups.
Collaborating with the Client and designers regarding material selection, which may involve undertaking overseas visits.
Providing initial responses to Contractor Notices requesting additional supporting information, as appropriate, prior to the Design Team and Supervision Consultants’ responses to Contractor Notices, including review and challenge, prior to preparing draft Determination for submission to Employer.
Evaluating the performance of the supervision consultant and design guardians withrespectto quality and timeliness of responding to contractor submittals.
Mitigating, monitoring and reporting on design risks throughout the project including status of Authority Approvals.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications
Minimum 15 years Design Management experience.
Degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or an equivalent technical qualification.
Experience in Hospitality, Museum, Complex Structural Assets, Large scale mixed-use development or Construction is desired.
Exceptional design management skills and associated technical capabilities across all including interior design and shop drawings.
Good communicator and Leader; character and attributes to manage signature designers and supervision consultants.
