Understanding the businessobjectives and strategy of the employer, and communicate the legalrisks and issues involved in any decision to themanagement
Supporting Business Units to achieveits goals by finding creative and effective solutions to legalproblems, and by implementing processes and tools to improve theefficiency and quality of the legalservice.
Giving accurate and timely counsel toexecutives and other staff members on a variety of legal topics(commercial and corporate.)Collaborating withmanagement to devise efficient defence strategies and specifyinternal governance policies
Researching andevaluating different risk factors regarding business decisions andoperations
Applying effective risk managementtechniques and offering proactive advice on possible legalissues
Communicating and negotiating withexternal parties (regulators, external counsel, public authorities,etc.), creating relations of trust
Drafting andsolidifying agreements, contracts, and other legal documents toensure the company’s full legalrights
Dealing with complex matters withmultiple stakeholders and forces
Providingclarification on legal language or specifications to everyone inthe organization
Conducting your work withintegrity and responsibility
Maintainingcurrent knowledge of alterations in legislation
What You’llNeed To Succeed Bachelor’s degree in lawand a juris doctor degree
License orcertification to practice law in the relevantjurisdiction
Strong commercial and retailbackground
A minimum of five years of externalor in-house legal experience
A workingknowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations thataffect the business of the employer
Proficientin MS Office and other software tools that facilitate legalwork
Outstanding written and verbalcommunication skills
Ability to research,analyze, and evaluate legal issues andrisks
Ability to draft, review, and negotiatecontracts and other legal documents
Ability toprovide accurate and timely legal advice and support to themanagement and other staff members
Ability tofind creative and effective solutions to legal problems andchallenges
Ability to work independently andcollaboratively with a
diverse team
