Overview
Element is seeking a Senior Chemist to lead LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS operations. Key responsibilities include developing and validating methods, maintaining ISO 17025:2017 standards, managing analytical projects, ensuring safety, and contributing to team training.
This position will be based in Dammam, KSA.
Responsibilities
Expertise in handling and operating spectroscopy and chromatographic systems such as ICP-MS, OES, GCMS, and GFID.
Conduct routine maintenance on spectroscopy and chromatographic systems.
Prepare and implement SOPs, including method validation and qualification activities.
Maintain ISO 17025:2017 quality management systems and identify improvement opportunities.
Handle and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Train and supervise chemists and technicians.
Execute complex analytical projects supporting client needs.
Adhere to safety protocols, including PPE use.
Perform qualitative and statistical data analysis for problem-solving.
Qualify as a peer reviewer.
Manage duties efficiently to meet TAT requirements.
Report to the Laboratory Manager and support organic chemistry business activities.
Skills / Qualifications
B.Sc and/or M.Sc. in Chemistry.
Minimum 5 years’ experience analyzing pesticides in soil and water.
Proficient in troubleshooting analytical equipment.
Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques from industry and academia.
Proficient in ISO-17025:2017 laboratory quality management systems.
Self-motivated, organized, and communicative team player.
Flexible, adaptable, and positive attitude.
Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.
Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to perform well under pressure.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and LIMS software.
Mandatory proficiency in GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS techniques.
Solid understanding of organic extraction procedures for ultra-trace analysis.
Experience in commercial testing laboratories is advantageous.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
