Key Accountabilities

General Ledger Management

  • Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of daily journal entries.
  • Identify and resolve general ledger discrepancies prior to financial closing.
  • Review journal entries and support documentation to ensure compliance with IFRS and company accounting policies.
  • Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances across group entities.

Financial Closing Activities

  • Execute month-end and year-end closing procedures in line with the approved financial calendar.
  • Prepare accruals, provisions, prepayments, and other necessary closing adjustments.
  • Prepare and review intercompany elimination entries as part of the group closing process.
  • Support the preparation of consolidation schedules and reporting packages for group financial reporting.

Account Reconciliation

  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Ensure timely resolution of reconciliation differences and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Perform reconciliation of intercompany balances and coordinate with related entities to resolve discrepancies.

Financial Reporting

  • Assist in preparing financial statements, management reports, schedules, and variance analyses.
  • Support preparation of group reporting schedules and consolidation inputs.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial information required for corporate management reporting and regulatory reporting requirements.

Compliance and Audit Support

  • Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and company accounting policies.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of new or revised IFRS standards where applicable.
  • Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of accounting records in line with internal control requirements.

Systems and Process Improvement

  • Use SAP for general ledger postings, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of accounting procedures and the reinforcement of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Support improvements in financial closing processes and reporting efficiency within SAP.

Requirements and Qualifications

Academic Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.

Professional Experience

  • 3–7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within corporate finance, financial reporting, or general ledger functions.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP accounting systems.
  • Experience in large organizations, multinational companies, or listed companies is preferred.
  • Prior experience in month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (preferably SAP).
  • Audit experience with Big4 or reputable audit firms is considered an advantage.

Professional Qualification

  • Professional certification e.g. SOCPA, ACCA, CPA, CMA or CA (Intermediate) is preferred.
