Job Statement for aSchool Principal
The School Principal serves as the educational leader, responsible for ensuring that all students are supervised in a safe way that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school.
The role will be non-class based, however there is an expectation that you may teach classes to model good practice, develop relationships, support training and development while ensuring first quality teaching and secure the smooth running of the school, or fill in where there is a staffing crisis.
Essential Duties of a School Principal
- Working with Management in leading and managing a school to achieve the highest possible outcomes for students.
- To take responsibility for all aspects of self-evaluation, delivery of a challenging curriculum.
- Managing a team of teachers and support staff and ensuring staff can deal with behavior issues themselves inside the classroom.
- Provide leadership and management of the school andfor the day-to-day line management of a staff team.
- To meet with staff regularly to monitor the implementation of all the aims and procedures, and to evaluate their performance.
- Sustaining a close connection with, and knowledge of new relevant projects, schemes of work, types of approaches and perspectives on the approach to and management of emotional, social and behavior difficulties.
- Developing staff skills around working with complex and challenging pupil behavior.
- Supporting colleagues to develop and implement student’s individual or personal learning plans, incorporating target setting and ensuring all students progress at expected rates and achieve in the exams according to their level.
- Ensuring the maintenance of discipline, ethos and attendance, and the implementation of relevant good practice.
- Maintaining a comprehensive structure for regular team meetings, day-to-day line management, supervision, performance management.
- Making sure all staff receive information they need in order to carry out their professional duties effectively
- The Principal will lead by example of their practice, and by positively encouraging and supporting all members of staff.
- To build confident with parents to have trust in the school and the education their child is receiving.
Required Qualifications for a School Principal
- MA or Ph.D. in an Educational Field.
- NPQH or recent additional professional qualification
- Professional qualification in staff development.
Experience for a School Principal
- A minimum of 10 years teaching experience. Membership of a senior leadership team in an Educational Institution.
- Teaching experience in a range of schools is an advantage.
- Previous accreditation experience desirable
- Knowledge of International programs
