Job Summary:
The Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for facilitating compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines. They will provide advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations and will be vigilant for violations. The job role is focused on prevention and requires a detail-oriented person ready to take appropriate action in emergencies. The goal is to establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to Occupational Health and Safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting the development of OHS policies and programs.
Advising and instructing on various safety-related topics (Fire Fighting, work at height, use of machinery, etc.).
Conducting risk assessments and enforcing preventative measures across territory facilities.
Reviewing existing policies and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
Initiating and organizing OHS training for Employees and Executives.
Conducting regular inspections of premises and personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g., not using protective equipment).
Overseeing installations of equipment, general maintenance, disposal of any substances, etc.
Stopping any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy.
Recording and investigating incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.
Preparing reports on occurrences and providing statistical information to upper management based on appropriate time intervals.
Undertaking other assigned duties related to the job as requested by management.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in science/engineering or equivalent with additional professional qualifications in HSE.
2 years or above experience in Health & Safety.
Health, Safety, Incident Investigation, and HSE Auditing Techniques.
Familiarity with ISO 14001:2004 or OHSAS 45001 standards.
