Job Brief
We are seeking an experienced HSE / Safety Engineer to support project and site teams in maintaining a safe working environment in compliance with applicable safety regulations, standards, and best practices. The role involves identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace hazards, particularly within construction activities.
Responsibilities
- Review project drawings and method statements to ensure safe execution of work.
- Conduct risk assessments (JSA/RA) and develop mitigation measures for site activities.
- Develop and implement site-specific health and safety plans.
- Ensure compliance with local safety regulations and international standards (OSHA / ISO 45001).
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors.
- Ensure proper use of PPE by all employees and subcontractors.
- Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
- Monitor high-risk activities such as lifting operations, scaffolding, excavation, and confined space entry.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure implementation of permit-to-work systems.
- Recommend improvements to safety procedures and promote a strong safety culture.
- Coordinate emergency response plans and drills.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction safety.
- Professional certifications preferred (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA).
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and construction practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and site priorities effectively.
