Responsible for leading and coordinating all project risk management activities to ensure the systematic identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting of risks and opportunities. The role works closely with project management and all relevant functions to maintain the Project Risk Management Plan and Risk Register, develop effective mitigation and contingency actions, and support informed decision-making. The position ensures compliance with contractual requirements, corporate policies, governance standards, and applicable risk management best practices, contributing to the safe, timely, and cost-effective achievement of project objectives.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead project risk management activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update the Project Risk Management Plan.
- Establish and maintain the project Risk and Opportunity Register.
- Ensure risk management activities align with project objectives, contractual requirements, and company policies.
- Monitor overall risk management performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular risk identification workshops and meetings with relevant departments.
- Assess risks based on their probability and impact on time, cost, quality, safety, and scope.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative risk analyses when required.
- Categorize and prioritize risks according to their severity.
- Identify emerging risks and changes that may affect project objectives.
- Coordinate with risk owners to develop and implement appropriate risk response and mitigation actions.
- Establish preventive measures and contingency plans for critical risks.
- Monitor mitigation actions and verify their effectiveness and timely completion.
- Evaluate residual risks and ensure their acceptance by authorized parties.
- Escalate critical and overdue risks to project management for necessary action.
- Prepare periodic risk reports, dashboards, and performance indicators for project management.
- Provide accurate risk information and analysis to support informed decision-making.
- Coordinate with engineering, planning, cost control, contracts, procurement, construction, quality, HSE, interface management, and stakeholder management teams.
- Integrate risk management with the project schedule, cost, change management, and claims processes.
- Ensure all risks, decisions, and mitigation actions are properly documented and maintained.
- Ensure compliance with approved project and corporate risk management policies and procedures.
- Verify adherence to contractual requirements, governance standards, and risk management best practices.
- Support internal and external audits related to project risk management.
- Promote risk awareness, accountability, and shared ownership across the project team.
Academic Qualifications and Professional Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Professional certification in risk management, such as PMI-RMP, IRM, or equivalent, is preferred.
- PMP certification is an advantage.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in major construction or infrastructure projects.
- At least 5 years of direct experience in project risk management or a similar managerial role.
- Proven experience in developing risk management plans, maintaining risk registers, conducting risk workshops, and performing qualitative and quantitative risk analyses.
