Position and Reporting

  • Job Title: Restaurant Host/Hostess.
  • Department: Front of House.
  • Direct Supervisor: Restaurant Manager.

Overall Job Objective

To warmly welcome restaurant guests, manage table reservations and waiting lists efficiently, and allocate guests to tables in a manner that ensures guest comfort and does not overwhelm the service staff.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Welcoming and Farewell: Greet guests with a smile upon entry and bid them farewell upon departure.
  • Reservation Management: Record and organize advance reservations via phone or online booking applications.
  • Waiting List Organization: Manage waiting lists intelligently and determine estimated wait times for guests.
  • Guest Escorting: Lead guests to their tables and present them with menus.
  • Table Allocation: Distribute guests among service sections equitably to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Monitoring the Dining Area: Observe occupied tables and coordinate with cleaning staff to prepare tables promptly.
  • Handling Requests: Respond to guest inquiries regarding the menu, ingredients, and available services.
  • Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception and entrance area at all times.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma as a minimum (a college degree in hospitality is a plus).
  • Experience: 6 months to 1 year of experience in the restaurant or hospitality sector.
  • Languages: Excellent communication skills in Arabic, with a good command of English for interaction with tourists.
  • Appearance: Full adherence to the restaurant’s official dress code and hygiene standards.
