Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to oversee construction activities on site, ensuring that works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable UAE regulations and standards.
The ideal candidate must have proven UAE construction experience and strong experience in site supervision, quality control, contractor coordination, inspections, and project documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor daily construction activities on site.
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and contract requirements.
- Review and inspect contractor’s work for compliance with project specifications and approved materials.
- Coordinate with the contractor, consultant, client, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Review and respond to technical submissions, RFIs, shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and issue site observations/non-conformance reports where required.
- Monitor project progress and report delays, risks, and technical issues to the Project Manager.
- Verify completed works and support the preparation and review of payment applications and quantities.
- Ensure proper implementation of quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Monitor health, safety, and environmental requirements on site and coordinate with the relevant HSE personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, site activities, instructions, correspondence, and project progress.
- Attend site meetings and prepare or contribute to progress reports and technical discussions.
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, inspections, and handing-over activities as applicable.
- Ensure construction works comply with applicable UAE codes, regulations, authority requirements, and project specifications.
- Support the Project Manager in resolving construction and technical issues.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant construction/site supervision experience.
- UAE experience is mandatory.
- Proven experience working as a Resident Engineer, Site Engineer, or similar consultant-side position in the UAE.
- Strong knowledge of UAE construction practices, procedures, and authority requirements.
- Experience in reviewing drawings, specifications, method statements, RFIs, material submittals, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of construction quality control and site inspection procedures.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, consultants, clients, and subcontractors.
- Good knowledge of relevant international standards and applicable UAE codes.
- Excellent communication, reporting, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple site activities effectively.
Preferred
- Relevant professional engineering certification or registration.
- Experience with major UAE projects.
- Experience with Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi authorities, or other relevant UAE regulatory/approval requirements, depending on project location.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and relevant project management/document-control systems.
Important: Candidates without demonstrable UAE project experience will not be considered.
