Position: Â Refractory Inspector (Oil & Gas)
Key Responsibilities:
Refractory Installation & Inspection:
Conduct detailed inspections of refractory linings in high-temperature equipment such as reactors, furnaces, boilers, kilns, and associated systems.
Ensure that the installation of refractory materials meets project specifications, manufacturer instructions, and industry standards (e.g., API, ASTM, ISO).
Inspect the condition of refractory systems, identifying wear, cracks, and damage due to thermal, mechanical, or chemical stresses.
Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) and visual inspections to verify the quality of refractory materials, including brick, castable, and ceramic fibers.
Quality Control & Compliance:
Verify that all refractory work is carried out in accordance with the project scope, technical drawings, andquality assuranceprocedures.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, including safety and environmental regulations (e.g., HSE, ASME, API).
Perform sampling and laboratory testing of refractory materials to confirm material properties, strength, and thermal resistance.
Review and approvequality controldocumentation, inspection reports, and certification of refractory materials used in construction and maintenance projects.
Maintenance & Performance Monitoring:
Regularly inspect and assess the condition of refractory linings and materials to identify potential issues that could lead to failures, leaks, or safety hazards.
Recommend corrective actions for damaged or degraded refractory linings, including repairs, relining, or replacement.
Monitor performance over time, conducting thermal surveys and checking for abnormal temperatures, stresses, or vibrations that could indicate damage to the refractory system.
Technical Reporting & Documentation:
Document inspection findings, providing detailed reports outlining issues, actions taken, and recommendations for repair or replacement.
Provide daily or weekly inspection reports to the Maintenance Supervisor orQuality AssuranceManager, noting any critical issues that need immediate attention.
Maintain a comprehensive database of inspections, repairs, and maintenance records to ensure proper tracking and compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
Collaboration & Guidance:
Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and project teams to ensure the appropriate refractory systems are selected, designed, and maintained.
Provide technical support and guidance to contractors, ensuring they follow best practices and safety guidelines during refractory installation and maintenance activities.
Assist in the planning and scheduling of refractory repairs and shutdown maintenance, ensuring that critical timelines are met with minimal disruption to operations.
Troubleshooting &Problem Resolution:
Diagnose and troubleshoot refractory-related issues, including erosion, cracking, or chemical degradation, to determine root causes and provide effective solutions.
Collaborate with the operations team to investigate refractory failures, understand contributing factors, and implement corrective measures.
