Quarry Supervisor – Load & Haul Operations

Stevin Rock is one of the world’s largest quarrying companies, operating one of the highest capacity (70
Mtpa) hard rock quarries globally. We are seeking an experienced Quarry Supervisor to join our flagship operation and play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and high-volume production.
Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is responsible for leading a large-scale load and haul operation, overseeing a fleet of circa 60 haul trucks and associated loading equipment within a fast-paced, high-output open pit environment.
This is a critical frontline leadership position where safety, team management, and operational discipline directly impact production performance across a 24/7 operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily load and haul activities to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently
- Manage and coordinate a large fleet of haul trucks, excavators, and loading units in a high-volume quarry environment
- Drive a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all operational procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
- Monitor and optimise cycle times, equipment utilisation, and haul routes to improve productivity and reduce downtime
- Work closely with FMS (Fleet Management System) teams to ensure accurate data utilisation, reporting, and decision-making
- Supervise, coach, and develop frontline teams including operators, charge hands, and foremen
- Ensure effective shift handovers and communication to maintain continuity of operations across a 24‑hour production cycle
- Respond to operational issues in real time, making sound decisions to maintain continuous production and minimise disruption
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in mining or quarrying operations, with significant exposure to load and haul activities
- Proven experience supervising large open pit operations with high production volumes
- Strong background managing large mobile equipment fleets (haul trucks, excavators, loaders)
- Experience working with Fleet Management Systems (FMS) is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead large, multicultural teams in a demanding operational environment
- Strong understanding of safety management systems and best practice in mining operations
- Hands‑on, proactive leader with strong problem‑solving and decision‑making capability
