A Quantity Survey Engineer (QS Engineer) is responsible for managing all costs related to construction projects, ensuring that the project is completed within budget while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates from drawings and specifications.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
- Analyze project costs and prepare budgets.
- Review tender documents and evaluate contractor quotations.
- Monitor project expenditures and cost control throughout construction.
- Prepare and assess variations, change orders, and claims.
- Measure completed work and certify contractor payments.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Prepare financial reports and cost forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and project specifications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience in quantity surveying and cost management.
- Knowledge of construction contracts (FIDIC is often preferred).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, and quantity surveying software.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
