The Onshore Quality Specialist – Weldingis responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Site Welding Program and verifying that Non Destructive Examination (NDE) procedures are established in accordance with project requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Acting as the Company site welding representative for reviewing Contractor deliverables including Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) and Procedure Quality Records (PQRs).
Reviewing site Welding statistics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) including Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) and providing reporting to management.
Performing as the Quality focal point for Welding and NDE matters and providing recommendations for improvement and corrective action as required.
Conducting surveillance of Contractor and Subcontractor Welder Performance Qualification Testing and NDE qualifications.
Participating in the EPC Contractor’s welding audit program (audit plan, schedule, checklist, reports, etc.).
Providing verification that construction welding & NDE quality systems and procedures are implemented in compliance with the requirements of the approved Quality Management Systems.
Monitoring and tracking project deficiencies and reporting welding quality KPIs to the management team.
Promoting and monitoring key processes such as Deficiency Reporting, Specification Deviation Request, Non-conformance Request, Corrective Action Reports, etc.
Working with the EPC contractors to ensure their welding & NDE processes and plans are robust, fully documented, and appropriately resourced.
Identifying if gaps exist between the welding practices of site contractors and/or contract scopes. Providing input to troubleshoot issues related to welding in consultation with the quality team.
Interpreting and applying project specifications, design codes, and procedures for the control of production test programs, welding, and NDE qualifications.
Your Profile
Minimum 8 years’ experience associated withQuality Assurance& coordination of quality activities within the Oil & Gas Construction Industry.
Experience with multi-national contractors, particularly those involved in the construction of LNG production facilities.
Assertive Quality managementleadershipskills, capable of communicating Welding quality requirements, results, and status throughout Company and contractor management and craft labor levels.
Considerable relevant experience in the construction of onshore Oil & Gas installations, with demonstrated sound technical knowledge and extensive experience in welding processes.
Expert knowledge in welding of high strength steels and corrosion resistant alloys (CRA) used in the oil and gas industry.
Fully conversant with international codes and standards used in the oil and gas industry, with experience in NDE methods, especially AUT & RT, specifically intermediate RT on clad materials.
Experience in mechanical testing including corrosion and pitting tests. Strong preference is given to candidates with prior Qatar Gas or IOC project experiences.
A thorough knowledge of codes and standards in relation to site construction and working within a structured Quality Management System.
