Job Summary:
The Publisher Relations Manager will be responsible for managing and developing relationships with local, regional, and international publishers, particularly periodical publishers, to support publisher registration, ISSN services, legal deposit requirements, and digital content acquisition.
The role is highly field-oriented and requires regular communication and visits to publishers, as well as close coordination with internal teams responsible for ISSN, registration, digital content, and legal deposit.

- Publisher Relations & Field Engagement
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with local, regional, and international publishers.
- Communicate directly with periodical publishers to update and complete publisher and publication records.
- Coordinate with periodical publishers to update existing registration records, including publisher and publication information.
- Obtain missing information and documentation to ensure the completeness and accuracy of registration records.
- Verify the status of discontinued, suspended, or renamed periodicals and coordinate the required updates.
- Monitor and validate URLs for electronic periodicals and ensure that online information remains accessible and accurate.
- Link publisher information to relevant periodical records and follow up on required amendments or updates.
- Engage with new publishers and explain ISSN services, registration procedures, and requirements.
- Follow up on new ISSN applications and coordinate with publishers to obtain the required information and documentation.
- Follow up with publishers to ensure the deposit of print periodical issues in accordance with legal deposit requirements.
- Coordinate with publishers to obtain digital copies of electronic periodicals for deposit in the National Library’s digital repository.
- Monitor and confirm the receipt of required print and digital publications.
- Reporting & Follow-Up
- Maintain and regularly update publisher and periodical databases and records.
- Track the status of registration, ISSN applications, and legal deposit activities.
- Prepare periodic reports on progress, completion rates, outstanding requirements, and publisher engagement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science, Information Science, Publishing, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in libraries, information management, publishing, periodicals, knowledge resources, or publisher relations.
- Proven experience working directly with publishers, cultural institutions, libraries, or knowledge organizations.
- Good knowledge of periodicals, publishing, ISSN, and legal deposit concepts and procedures.
- Familiarity with bibliographic databases, records management, and data maintenance.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, follow-up, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple publishers, applications, and follow-ups simultaneously.
