Job Summary
The Psychology Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in psychology and mental health-related courses to students enrolled in health sciences programs. The instructor supports student learning through effective teaching, academic advising, research activities, and participation in curriculum development and institutional service. The role contributes to preparing future healthcare professionals with a strong understanding of psychological principles, mental health, and evidence-based practice.
Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning
- Teach psychology and mental health-related courses in accordance with approved curricula and accreditation standards.
- Develop and deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, assessments, and learning activities.
- Integrate psychological principles into healthcare and clinical practice contexts.
- Utilize innovative teaching methods and educational technologies to enhance student learning.
- Assess and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate academic records, including attendance, grades, and course documentation.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
Research and Scholarly Activities
- Conduct and contribute to research in psychology, mental health, healthcare education, or related fields.
- Encourage and supervise student research projects where applicable.
- Present and publish scholarly work in academic journals, conferences, and professional forums.
- Participate in collaborative research initiatives within the college and external organizations.
Service and Administration
- Participate in curriculum development, review, and quality assurance activities.
- Support accreditation requirements and institutional effectiveness initiatives.
- Serve on departmental and college committees.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and community engagement programs.
- Promote mental health awareness and well-being initiatives within the college community.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Dean.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Mental Health, or a related field from an accredited institution (PhD preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in higher education preferred.
- Experience in research and scholarly activities is desirable.
- Knowledge of psychological theories, mental health practices, and their application in healthcare settings.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
