A Medical Facility Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in a healthcare setting. This role involves cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, treatment areas, waiting rooms, and other facility spaces to prevent the spread of infections and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
General Cleaning: Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, walls, and surfaces in patient rooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.
Disinfection & Sanitization: Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, including doorknobs, light switches, countertops, and medical equipment, following infection control protocols.
Restroom Maintenance: Sanitize sinks, toilets, and other restroom fixtures; replenish soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
Waste Management: Properly collect, separate, and dispose of general waste, biohazard waste, and sharps containers in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Linen & Supply Handling: Replace bed linens, restock cleaning supplies, and report inventory shortages.
Compliance & Safety: Follow proper cleaning procedures as per OSHA, CDC, and other regulatory guidelines to maintain a sterile and hazard-free environment.
Emergency Response: Assist in cleaning spills of bodily fluids or hazardous materials using appropriate protective equipment and disinfectants.
Equipment Maintenance: Properly use and maintain cleaning tools, including mops, vacuums, and disinfectant sprayers.
Collaboration: Work closely with medical and administrative staff to address cleaning needs and ensure a hygienic environment.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: No formal education required; high school diploma or equivalent is a plus.
Experience: Previous cleaning experience in a hospital, clinic, or similar healthcare setting is preferred.
Skills:
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and infection control procedures.
Ability to follow safety and hygiene protocols.
Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in cleaning.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical stamina to lift, bend, and perform repetitive tasks.
Work Environment:
Exposure to cleaning chemicals and potential biohazards (e.g., bodily fluids).
Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, and gowns.
Work may include nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on the facility’s needs.
