Job Overview

Project & Civil Engineer responsible for identifying and carrying out feasibility studies of infrastructures for basic services, designing plans and bill of quantities, supervising implementation of infrastructure projects, and reporting. The engineer supports all phases of infrastructure activities, ensuring quality assurance and adherence to project documents, standards, time, and cost constraints.

Duties and Accountabilities

  • Implement approved work packages, including establishment of milestones, within tolerances set by Project Managers.
  • Manage the production of required products, taking overall responsibility for progress and resource use.
  • Liaise with external suppliers or account managers.
  • Review contractor method statements, safeguard requirements, and monitor compliance.
  • Coordinate day‑to‑day activities with contractors and suppliers as needed on site.
  • Inspect and report on contractor works in progress, ensuring compliance with client quality standards.
  • Provide support and guidance to contractors, assisting in resolving site problems when necessary.
  • Lead and motivate team members, encouraging teamwork and establishing behavioral expectations.
  • Conduct performance reviews and identify outstanding staff for supervisory attention.

Education

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in architecture or civil engineering is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or civil engineering combined with at least five years of qualifying experience will be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree.

Experience

  • Up to two years (with a Master’s degree) or a minimum of five years (with a Bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience in infrastructure project implementation, particularly in works monitoring in the fields of construction engineering (including structural design engineering) and/or architectural engineering.

Desired Skills

  • Work experience in international organizations and/or government institutions is an asset.
  • Experience in development of technical documentation and construction works monitoring is an asset.
  • Experience in monitoring and reporting on designing, technical control and supervision of work.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and external actors.
  • Ability to demonstrate a sense of self‑assuredness.
  • Focus on impact and results for the client, responding positively to critical feedback.
  • Ability to summarize and systematize complex information.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team management experience is desired for this role.

Languages

  • English and French are the working languages.
