Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Production Engineer to join our team in a dynamic metal fabrication environment. The ideal candidate will oversee and optimize production processes, ensuring quality, efficiency, and timely delivery of bespoke furniture, architectural structures, claddings, staircases, and other metal-based projects. This role requires a strong understanding of fabrication techniques, material properties, and hands-on problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Management:
Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and workflows to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
Monitor daily production activities and allocate resources effectively.
Coordinate with design, procurement, and quality teams to ensure smooth operations.
Process Optimization:
Analyze and enhance production processes for efficiency, reducing waste and minimizing costs.
Introduce and implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices in the workshop.
Ensure proper usage and maintenance of equipment and tools.
Technical Oversight:
Interpret technical drawings, CAD designs, and project specifications to guide production.
Provide technical expertise for fabrication processes, including cutting, welding, forming, grinding, polishing, and finishing.
Resolve on-site technical challenges and make adjustments to processes as required.
Quality Assurance:
Implement quality control measures at every stage of production.
Ensure finished products meet client specifications and industry standards.
Conduct inspections and audits to maintain consistency and quality.
Team Collaboration & Supervision:
Lead, train, and supervise production teams, including machine operators, welders, and fabricators.
Foster collaboration between design, production, and project management teams.
Ensure team compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
Material & Inventory Management:
Oversee the selection and usage of stainless steel, mild steel, aluminum, and other materials.
Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.
Collaborate with the procurement team to source quality materials cost-effectively.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing company policies and adhering to safety regulations.
Ensure compliance with local and international standards in fabrication processes.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in metal fabrication, preferably in a bespoke manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and production planning tools.
Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes, including welding, V-grooving, and electroplating.
Familiarity with various metals, including stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Certifications (Preferred):
Certification in welding (e.g., AWS, CSWIP).
Training in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
