Roles and responsibilities
As the Design Manager for our Consumer-Facing Products, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the vision for accommodation funnels that directly engage our customers. Through your design
leadership
and strategic insights, you’ll collaborate closely with product stakeholders to deliver seamless experiences. Your primary responsibility will be to guide and inspire a team of designers, fostering an environment where
innovative solutions
thrive.
Together, we’ll streamline the booking process on Agoda, ensuring users can easily find and book their accommodations.
Manage scope of work for your team, determining how to divide work amongst designers.
Lead design strategy for complex initiatives and grow design leaders.
Drive design vs business objectives and measurement alignment on core product initiatives that the design team or product team drives.
Ensure successful execution by your team, surfacing and addressing questions, bottlenecks, dependencies, and conflicts as they arise, working with stakeholders when needed to ensure high quality design decisions are made.
Maintain and apply a process for effective design.
Build a healthy, high-performing, capability-complete team by hiring designers to fill open headcount and fostering a
positive culture
.
Coach and mentor your direct reports to help them hone their competencies and grow in their careers.
Lead projects and groups to define and sell a coherent medium to long-term vision, with milestones and short-term actions to get there, focusing on building the design organization as part of the wider company vision and strategy.
Represent your team upwards to your manager, ensuring the team’s priorities are well understood, advocating for them, and flagging any underperformers, stakeholder misalignments, or other challenges they face.
Partner with a design
leadership
team to help shape management practices, mentoring other design leaders to implement those practices.
Desired candidate profile
Experience in leading design strategy for complex initiatives and growing design leaders.
Ability to lead through ambiguity, using soft skills to persuade and build alignment with senior leaders around a vision and approach.
Holistic thinking to identify customer experience opportunities that create impact across the organization.
Experience in partnering with a design
leadership
team to help shape management practices, mentoring other design leaders to implement those practices.
Incorporate advancements in the field of product design to guide the skills and practices of our team.
Develop a deep understanding of current native technologies and design patterns, guiding your design team to use these in practice.
