Job Overview: We are looking for an Assistant Splicer to support our team with the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecom cables, including fiber optic and copper cables. The Assistant Splicer will assist experienced splicing technicians with cable splicing operations, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring efficient and safe completion of tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the splicing, termination, and testing of fiber optic and copper cables under the supervision of senior splicing technicians.
Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecom networks, including aerial, underground, and submarine cables.
Assist with the setup and operation of splicing equipment, such as fusion splicing machines and OTDR.
Perform basic cable preparation tasks, including stripping, cleaning, and organizing cables for splicing.
Help with the documentation and reporting of splicing activities, including test results and cable installations.
Ensure that all splicing operations follow safety standards and industry best practices.
Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment used during splicing operations.
Assist with troubleshooting network issues related to signal loss or damaged cables.
Collaborate with senior technicians and project teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of splicing tasks.
Participate in site inspections and ensure that all work areas are clean and organized.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; certification or training in telecommunications, fiber optics, or electrical systems is a plus.
Basic understanding of telecom systems, including fiber optics, copper cables, and related network infrastructure.
Willingness to learn and develop technical skills related to cable splicing and telecom networks.
Familiarity with using tools and equipment such as fusion splicing machines, cable cutters, and OTDR for testing.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols and procedures.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and in potentially hazardous environments.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills:
Previous experience in telecommunications or electrical work.
Basic knowledge of fiber optic and copper cable splicing techniques.
Ability to read basic technical schematics or blueprints.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry splicing tools and equipment.
Comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
Willingness to travel to job sites as required.
Working Hours:
According to labour law.
Salary:
2700/- AED without accommodation
