Job Purpose
To manage the procurement of building materials, equipment, tools, and related supplies while ensuring competitive pricing, quality, timely delivery, and compliance with company purchasing procedures and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase building materials including cement, steel, blocks, concrete products, tiles, sanitary ware, plumbing materials, electrical materials, hardware, timber, finishing materials, and other construction supplies.
- Identify and evaluate reliable suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors.
- Obtain and compare quotations based on price, quality, specifications, availability, payment terms, and delivery time.
- Negotiate prices, credit terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
- Prepare and process RFQs, quotation comparisons, purchase orders (POs), and procurement documentation.
- Ensure materials are purchased according to approved specifications, quantities, brands, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with Project, Site, Engineering, Store, Accounts, and Management teams to understand material requirements and delivery schedules.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure materials are delivered to site/store on time.
- Monitor outstanding purchase orders and resolve delays, shortages, damaged materials, or quality issues.
- Maintain an updated database of suppliers, prices, product specifications, and supplier performance.
- Develop alternative suppliers and sourcing options to minimize supply-chain risks.
- Conduct market research to monitor building material prices and market trends.
- Ensure procurement is carried out within approved budgets and company policies.
- Verify supplier invoices, delivery notes, purchase orders, and material receipts before forwarding documents for payment processing.
- Coordinate with the Storekeeper to ensure proper documentation of received materials.
- Maintain proper procurement records and documentation for audit and management review.
- Support cost-saving initiatives and negotiate bulk purchase and long-term supply agreements where appropriate.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, project requirements, and applicable UAE regulations.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of procurement experience, preferably within the UAE construction or building materials industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction and building materials and their specifications.
- Good knowledge of UAE suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and local market pricing.
Pay: AED4,000.00 – AED5,000.00 per month
