Procurement / Contracts Manager – Job Description
Core purpose
You manage purchasing, supplier contracts, and cost control for large projects (especially construction/real estate). The goal is to get the best value while ensuring quality and compliance.
Key responsibilities
1. Procurement & Sourcing
- Develop procurement strategies aligned with company/project goals
- Manage full cycle:
- RFQs / RFPs
- Tendering
- Bid evaluation
- Awarding contracts
- Ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials/services
2. Contracts management
- Draft, review, and negotiate:
- Supplier agreements
- Subcontractor contracts
- Service agreements
- Ensure contracts clearly define:
- Scope
- Pricing
- Delivery terms
- Legal compliance
3. Vendor & supplier management
- Identify and onboard suppliers
- Evaluate performance and maintain relationships
- Monitor risks in supply chain
- Negotiate pricing and terms
4. Cost control & budgeting
- Track procurement budgets
- Identify cost-saving opportunities
- Ensure project stays within financial targets
5. Team & stakeholder coordination
- Lead procurement team
- Work with:
- Engineering
- Finance
- Legal
- Project management
- Ensure alignment across departments
Typical requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (Supply Chain, Engineering, Business)
- 10+ years experience (especially construction/real estate)
- Strong skills in:
- Negotiation
- Contracts (FIDIC often required in Qatar)
- Commercial analysis
- GCC experience often preferred
