Job Brief:
The Process Safety Superintendent acts as a technical expert and mentor within the Process Safety team, leading complex hazard identification and risk assessment studies, and providing advanced technical guidance on process safety issues. This role is crucial for ensuring the technical rigor and quality of process safety deliverables.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate complex Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), HAZOPs, LOPAs, SIL (Safety Integrity Level) studies, and other quantitative risk assessments.
- Provide expert technical support and guidance on process design, modifications, and operational procedures to ensure inherent safety.
- Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific process safety standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Conduct pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs) for new or modified facilities.
- Perform process safety technical reviews for Management of Change (MOC) proposals.
- Act as a technical resource for incident investigations related to process safety events, identifying underlying technical causes.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior Process Safety Engineers.
- Stay abreast of new process safety technologies, methodologies, and regulatory developments.
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 10+ years of dedicated experience in process safety engineering, with significant experience in facilitating hazard studies within a heavy industrial environment.
- Deep technical knowledge of process safety engineering principles and PSM elements.
- Expertise in various hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent facilitation, technical writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- NEBOSH certification
- Certificate HAZOP leader
- Certified in RCA (Root Cause Analyst)
