MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To monitor, analyze, and optimize plant processes in a combined cycle power plant with multi-stage steam extractions. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, and auxiliaries, supporting operations and engineering teams in process optimization, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and compliance with safety and water/steam chemistry standards. This position is critical to maintaining plant efficiency, protecting equipment integrity, and ensuring reliable power generation.
JOB OBJECTIVES
- Monitor and analyze plant process parameters to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.
- Conduct process performance analysis of Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, HRSG, and Balance of Plant.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency improvement, heat rate reduction, and energy optimization.
- Support plant troubleshooting and root cause analysis during operational upsets or performance deviations.
- Review and validate process data trends using plant monitoring systems (e.g., PI or equivalent).
- Provide technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
- Perform process simulations and calculations to optimize plant performance.
- Utilize systems such as PI, LIMS, and DCS for data analysis and reporting.
- Prepare daily/weekly performance reports and technical assessments.
- Track process deviations and recommend corrective actions.
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid systems.
- Familiarity with DCS, PI, PMS, MOC and industrial safety systems.
- Good communication and cross-department collaboration.
- Deliver technical training to Jr. Process Engineers and knowledge transfer to operations and engineering teams to strengthen process understanding and support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
- Monitor and analyze water and steam chemistry parameters (e.g., pH, conductivity, TOC, dissolved oxygen, silica) and provide technical recommendations to maintain chemistry within specified limits and ensure the integrity and reliability of plant systems.
Formal Qualifications/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical / mechanical engineering – Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering – Preferred
Job Related Work Experience
- Min 6Yrs of Work experience in Cogen Power Plant engineering or operating plant engineering and preferably with one or more of the processes and technologies used in the facility. – Essential
- Process Safety Management experience, fully understanding the requirements of process safety systems, including relief devices, and safety instrumented systems. – Preferred
- Work experience in leading the management of change process for proposed modifications to a design or operating plant. – Preferred
