Position: POLYSOMNOGRAPHY TECHNOLOGIST II
RESPIRATORY CARE THERAPISTS AND TECHNICIANS (Sec)-J External Job
Provides technology expertise in sleep studies and performs sleep procedures to aid in the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.
Key responsibilities
- Performs sleep studies including overnight sleep study, MSLT, CPAP, and BiPAP titrations.
- Prepare patient for sleep studies, including admission, education, setup all electrodes, and discharge after completing polysomnography assessment
- Reviews medical history, clinical information, medications, and analyses patient information including procedure request and verifies documentation.
- Applies electrodes and sensors with appropriate post calibrations to ensure that the signals are artifacts free.
- Performs troubleshooting as necessary for acquiring good quality sleep data.
- Documents all routine observations including sleep stages, respiratory events, and other significant clinical events.
- Implements appropriate interventions necessary for patient’s safety during the study.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific assessment and care according to policy. Maintains current BLS certification.
- Operates and maintains equipment and accessories. Maintains all stock and supplies needed to perform procedures in the sleep laboratory.
- Participates in performance improvement activities as assigned.
- Assists with scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events such as respiratory events, periodic limb movements, arousals etc. by using accepted professional guidelines.
- Demonstrates effective written and spoken communication skills. Demonstrates ability to follow directions.
Other responsibilities
- Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
- Successful completion of Polysomnography program with documented proficiency.
- Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
Experience
- Four (4) years as Polysomnography Technologist II at KFSH&RC, or (Grade 08) related experience is required.
- Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years.
- Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continued medical education CME .
