Piping & Layout Engineer – Saipem

This position reports to the Piping & Layout Lead and is part of the COMP3 project within the Engineering Fixed Facilities Department.

Responsibilities

• Execute activities within your area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with QA/QC and HSE requirements.
• Development Technology know‑how and commercial support.
• Feasibility studies.
• Bidding phase / commercial proposal development:
  • Bill of material
  • Plot plan layout proposal
  • Support lead to define man‑hour and cost estimate
• Project execution:
  • Provide piping and layout engineering support to different projects.
  • Achieve assigned goals and meet project quality and contractual obligations.
  • Analyze technical documents (specifications, calculation notes, drawings) to assess scope and risks.
  • Seek solutions that bring overall savings.
  • Estimate quantities or validate estimates from team specialists.
  • Check all produced documents, including design reports and technical specifications.
  • Write comprehensive piping and layout methodologies and design premises.
  • Validate consistency between budget, resources, and allocated means.
  • Organize the work of the team under your responsibility.
  • Define and follow up resource mobilization planning.
  • Monitor and report actual progress, including 3D and discipline activities; control men‑hours and delivered documents.
  • Control input data for team activities and review all issued documents.
  • Attend internal review activities and inter‑discipline check meetings.
  • Provide technical support to the project group, procurement, subcontracting, and construction activities.
  • Supervise the writing of specifications, requisitions, and technical bid evaluations.
  • Inform the Project Piping & Layout leader of any foreseen technical, financial, or delay risk on a permanent basis.
  • Feed the Piping & Layout Department improvement system with lessons learned during the project.
• Construction and start‑up:
  • Participate in test circuit verification.
  • Field engineering during construction activities.
  • Assist with engineering adjustments on site when necessary.
  • Manage materials at site.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in piping and layout engineering.
• Proficient in English.
• Experience with operation follow‑up offshore & onshore and EPC projects.
• Ability to perform technical tasks assigned by the Piping & Layout Lead, including design, verification, and study activities.
• Interface with other project specialists, designers, and draftsmen.
• Coordinate technical activities performed inside or outside Saipem.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Project.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
