Responsibilities:
Caringfor newborn infants until they are ready to gohome.
Providing prenatal care for high-riskinfants.
Assisting in premature or problematicdeliveries, and helping if complications arise or if medicalattention is necessary immediately afterbirth.
Caring for infants’ nutrition toensure optimal growth and development, and finding alternative waysto feed infants who struggle tosuckle.
Assisting with medications and treatinginfants born with infections or who contract infections afterbirth.
Performing heart-lung bypass proceduresfor infants with breathing difficulties due to underdeveloped ordamaged hearts and lungs.
Providing support toparents and helping them to understand and make decisions regardingtheir infant’s condition andtreatment.
Ensuring parents have sufficientopportunities to bond with theirinfants.
Conducting research and clinicaltrials.
